This has some information on this particular plane, which, actually, crashed in 2004 during an Airshow. I am afraid i cannot do the aircraft's story any justice, with what little i know of it, and i cannot account for 100% accuracy in the article. However, most of it seems up-to-par with what i know.
(Please, tell me i have the name right, and i didn't get the plane's name mixed up with the B-25 bomber, AGAIN? >___<)
At the CAF, Commemorative Air Force, they are a WW2 museum dedicated to the preservation and such of the vehicles and aircraft.
I have had so many amazing experiences there, including ogling my personal favorite plane, the P-52 Fighter Mustang.
There is a story behind the Tuskegee Airmen and the 'By request' on the plane, i suggest you do some research on it if you don't already know.
I actually used this picture to reference for a painting in school, last year. the plane turned out amazing, and so did the sky... the ground, though...
...ruined the whole thing, i did x_x
I wish i could get up to the CAF more often >___< I feel like an undedicated member for not being up there more often and helping them out with whatever tasks they have for me to do ;_;
